This piece was done for my Illustration class where we were given a random math equation and animal to illustrate to small children just learning how to add.  I chose to depict the cows in the night sky as it is common in children’s books to see a cow jumping over the moon; it would be a sight they are familiar with while clearly presenting the math problem “1 + 4.”  I gave the cows a soft glow to depict them as part of the night sky while making them appear as celestial bodies.
