Game Design

Alongside minoring in Computer Game Design, I joined Mason's GADIG (Game Analysis and Design Interest Group) in my second year at Mason, where I served as secretary and as a member on the Art team as a concept artist.

Attack of the Magic Cardboard (GADIG 2021)

For this game I worked as an environment concept artist.  I was tasked with creating the second level of the game set in a whimsical forest.  I coordinated with other environment artists and the game director to ensure the style remained consistent and assets and layers were separated to streamline implementation into the game.

Thanks go to Jason Villanueva for the in-game screenshot

Forest scene mock up.png

As an environment artist, I was given instructions to create aspects that would make the forest “whimsical” and “fun”, hence why I gave the trees’ weaving trunks.  I also created acorn houses to further add to the magic in the forest and added lighted windows to give the player a sense that this was a small community they stumbled upon. I put string lights and fireflies to create an atmosphere of calm and warmth to juxtapose it to the ominous space in the background where enemies spawn from.
